Obituary of John Neil Thompson

John Neil Thompson, Jr., age 68, of David Gray Hill Rd. in Groveland, died Monday, May 5, 2014 at his residence. He was predeceased by his father, John Neil Thompson, Sr., mother and step father, Helen and LaVern McKelvey. He is survived by his wife, Cathy Schicker Thompson, children, Matthew Thompson of Groveland, Amy Thompson of Euless, TX, Naomi (Brian Taylor) Thompson of Groveland, grandson, Evan Thompson of Euless, TX. John was born August 23, 1945 in Rochester, NY the son of John Neil Thompson, Sr. and Helen Wernz. He was a graduate of both the University of Buffalo and Rochester Institute of Technology. John was an Auditor for New York State Department of Health in Rochester, NY. He was a member of the Boy Scouts for over 50 years, serving as a Leader for Troop 4070 in Geneseo and Regional Commissioner of the Iroquois Trail Council. Calling hours will be held Friday, May 9 from 4-7 PM at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo. Graveside Services will be held Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 11 AM in Lakeview Cemetery in Groveland with Lucille Kane officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wilmot Cancer Center, PO Box 23029, Rochester, NY 14692.
