Obituary of Joan M. Brooks

Joan M. "Joni" Brooks, age 71, of Dansville formerly of Geneseo, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2024 at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mt. Morris, NY. She was predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Genevieve Brooks.

She is survived by her loving brother, Art (Mary) Brooks of MI and her church family at Cornerstone Baptist Church.

Joni was born November 1, 1953 in Erie, PA the daughter of Arthur E. and Genevieve Wilkiel Brooks. Her family moved from Erie, PA to Buffalo and then to Geneseo. Joni was a Graduate of Geneseo Central School where she was the drum majorette for the marching band. She then earned her Bachelor's Degree from Central Florida University. After graduation she was employed by the Florida State prison system as a parole and probation officer until her retirement. Joni was a red hat girl, a great cook and loved Alabama and Florida State Football. She was known for her love of her many dogs over the years and especially for doing things her way.

Joni's Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 1 PM at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo with Pastor John Zatkiewicz officiating. Private interment will be with her mother in St. Mary's Cemetery in Geneseo.
