Bob was born March 27, 1947 in the Bronx, NY the son of Carl and Lillian Kuhnast Armbruster and grew up in Westchester County. He graduated from Edgemont High School in Scarsdale, NY and earned his Bachelor's Degree from St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY. Bob then earned his Master's Degree from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN in experimental psychology and went on to work at what was then called Craig State School. Bob retired from various clinical and administrative positions for over thirty years with the Finger Lakes Developmental Disabilities Service Office of New York State, Geneseo location. The most meaningful to Bob was his involvement in the in deinstitutionalization process of the 1980's.
Family was the most important part of Bob's life. He cared deeply for all and had a wonderful relationship with his three sons. They became more like best friends over the years but continued asking Bob for advice which he was happy to provide. Bob was an avid car enthusiast from a young age and skilled at any kind of mechanics. Other interests included motorcycling, boating, walking at a fast pace around the village, watching sports, especially the Tennessee Volunteers, Buffalo Bills as well as golf. He became a very good cook in later years and enjoyed feeding everyone his best. Bob had a love of cats that was reciprocal with them.
Some words that describe Bob would be strong, wise, humorous, brave and patriotic. He was also adventurous, being captain of a 19 day cruise from Fort Myers, FL to Seneca Lake. There were also many Harley events including Sturgis, SD and several cross country trips. Bob loved warm winters out of the cold and was fortunate to retire early and spend over 20 winter seasons at their home in Florida.
It is just not possible to describe how deeply Bob will be missed by his family and good friends.
