Jacqueline was born April 28, 1936 in Fulton, NY the daughter of Anthony John Ammann and Alice M. Van Tassell. In 1944, Jackie moved from Fulton to Syracuse and it was here she met her met her childhood friend, Virginia Grosso and continued to be best friends for nearly 80 years. Neither time nor distance impacted their lifelong friendship. She made her confirmation December 16, 1948 in St. Patrick's Church in Syracuse. She graduated from St. Patrick's High School, class of 1953. After her graduation she started working at the NY Telephone Company in January 1954 where she met her future husband, Richard C. Garcia. They met over the telephone and talked several times before he asked her out on their first date. They were married February 16, 1957. They were blessed with three children during their marriage. While raising her family, she was gifted with her "Bennett Road family", a group of friends and neighbors who all spent time together having fun, making memories and raising children. Those special bonds of friendship were endless.
After her children were grown Jackie returned to work at East Hill Elementary School where she made many dear friends. She worked closely with Linda Weisskopf in her kindergarten class room for many years. An active member in the local teachers bowling league she enjoyed good times and friendship. After retiring, she and her husband relocated to Crossville, TN where they spent several years together. Adventuring many times with just a general direction and a plan to see whatever crossed their path. After her husband's passing Jackie returned to Geneseo, New York where she resided with her daughter and family for over 20 years.
Jackie shared her talents of knitting, crocheting and crafting with the Geneseo Methodist Church ladies for many years helping to prepare and craft items for their annual holiday bazaar, and later would simply attend to enjoy the fellowship and friendship of the many wonderful ladies she called friends. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow up and was fortunate to be an active part of their daily lives. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, games and was a scrabble buddy to many, a wiz with those two and three letter words always seeming to hit that triple word score.
She touched the lives of the people she met in many ways, and shared the gift of friendship with many special people. She will be missed.
