I never met Dan in person. I met him years ago through the internet . I worked night shift and in my quiet times I would browse the WWC message boards. When I interacted with Dan, I listened to his complaints and let him vent while trying to give encouragement. Life, after college, doesn't always live up to our expectations. You learn to find other things to strive for. I haven't conversed with Dan for years. But every so often I will search his name. This news of his passing is not what I was expecting. I am sure that Dan is waiting for his friends so they can continue on their journey.

I remember Daniel as a classmate and teammate at GCS. He was always ready to take on a challenge. He was a staunch defender as a fullback on the boys soccer team. We also had many great meets running on the track team throughout the years. I think what makes me smile and think of him most was his comedic impersonation of Richard Nixon which always made us all laugh.

I knew Dan for over 10 years in Asheville, he was a force like I'd never known before. Dan was honest and direct and a tireless advocate for those without a voice. He expressed moments of kindness and caring for those he loved and he loved HARD. He was an avid reader of historical facts and was prepared at all times to share what he'd learned. He was an animal lover and spoke about Bella and Jack, 2 dogs he helped raise quite often. Taking solace in the knowledge that Dan's brain and body are finally at rest.

Big condolences on the loss of Dan, gone way too soon.
He was a very smart guy one year behind me in school.
I best remember playing chess against Dan in high school.
He was an extremely confident chess player and brought "trash talking" to a whole new level
probably not seen before in a chess match lol.
But it was all done in good humor and he always had me laughing.
He pretty much beat me every time too lol.
