Obituary of Jacob Daniel Hainey

Jacob Daniel Hainey

October 30, 1983-September 2, 2024 Reno, Nevada

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Jacob "Jake" Daniel Hainey due to an ATV accident while hunting and exploring in the Northern Nevada Mountains on September 2, 2024. Jacob was a Firefighter with CALFIRE and had just finished a 16-day assignment on the California wildfires.

Jake was born on October 30, 1983, in Dansville, New York to Wendy Louise Morris and the late Daniel E. Hainey. He was raised on Clark Street, Mt. Morris NY, with his sisters Amber Marie Hainey and Alyssa Rose (Hopkins) Jones. Jake was a Boy Scout in Cub Scout Troop 82 and attained the rank of Eagle Scout in 1999. He graduated from Mt. Morris High School, Class of 2002. He then went on to attend Finger Lakes Community College and continued his education in Wildlife and Forestry at SUNY Cobleskill. Jake's love of the mountains and outdoors brought him to the Sierra Nevada Mountains in Tahoe. He had many employment opportunities, but he found his passion when he began working for CALFIRE as a fire lookout at Martis Peak. He rose to the rank of Fire Apparatus Engineer assigned to the Truckee station in 2023.

Jake began his loving journey into fatherhood with his daughter, McKenna Marie in 2009. He met his wife, Allison "Allie" Folts Hainey in 2011 and they married in 2017. Jake, Allie and Mckenna settled in Reno, Nevada in 2016, where they welcomed the birth of their daughter Emma Lee in 2019. Jake had many loving friends, family and coworkers who enjoyed his adventurous stories, sense of humor and caring nature. Jake had a peaceful spirit, finding solace in music, laughter and in his own words, "Vibing out on the wind."

In addition to his wife, daughters, mother and sisters, Jake will be deeply missed by his grandmother, Joyce Williams, stepfather, Randall Morris "The Big Randoo", stepsiblings, Nicholas Morris and Courtney Morris Galletti, brother-in-law, Jacob Jones, parents-in-law, Rich and Chris Folts, sister-in-law, Laura and her husband, Bryan Dopkins, half- sister, Lynn Giglio, nieces and nephews, Dylan, Brenna, Elliott and Oliver. Many special aunts, uncles and cousins. The close- knit relationship with his Mt. Morris friends and neighbors held an extraordinary place in Jake's heart. Pieces of his joy-filled soul will always be with Dylan, James, Marty, Dusty, Kyle, Nevin, Schmidty, Matt, Mark, and Ricky.
