Obituary of Thomas W. Preston

Thomas W. Preston, of Geneseo, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at his residence, succumbing to complications of COPD and Congestive Heart Failure (CHF). He was 77. Tom was predeceased by his parents, Warren "Smoke" and Lois Preston. He is survived by his wife, Donna Caffrey Preston, children, Tommy Preston II of Geneseo, Carrie (Eric) Falls, grandsons, Zachary, Jacob and Lucas Falls all of Duxbury, MA, brother, James (Eileen) Preston of Livonia, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Tom was born November 11, 1946 in Warsaw, NY the son Warren A. and Lois Brown Preston. He was a graduate of Livonia Central School and went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and Accounting from the University of Kentucky. Tom was the Business Administrator at Geneseo Central School and after 12 years at GCS, he was hired by both Geneseo and Livonia Central School Districts. Tom was one of the first high level school administrators in the state to be shared by two different districts at the same time. Tom retired from Geneseo Central School in February of 2003. He was an active member of Livingston Country Club in Geneseo for many years. Tom was known for his love of all sports. He was a die-hard Kentucky Wildcats fan, his loyalty to the team unwavering throughout his life. His enthusiasm for sports and his spirited cheers for the Wildcats brought joy to fellow fans and friends alike. In recent years he has loved following and attending his grandsons many sporting events. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2024 from 1-4 PM at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo. A Celebration of Tom's Life will follow, 4-6 PM at the Valley Oak Event Center, 4242 Lakeville Rd. in Geneseo. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Livingston County Hospice Fund, 2 Murray Hill Dr., Mt. Morris, NY 14510 or Lollypop Farm, 99 Victor Rd., Fairport, NY 14450.
