Obituary of John D. Treadwell

John D. Treadwell, age 82, of Leicester, died peacefully at home on Thursday, June 15, 2023.

He is survived by his wife, Mabel Wallace Treadwell, sister June Patella, children, Paul (Paula Moore) Treadwell of Cortland, John Treadwell of Leicester, Scott (Heather) Treadwell of Leicester, Linda (Devin) Richards of Wadsworth, grandchildren, Duncan, Dylan, Caleb, Amber, Abby, Alec, Brittany and Rebecca, great-grandson, Cash, and his faithful canine companion, Luke.

John was born October 5, 1940 in Buffalo, NY, the son of William and Elizabeth Farkas Treadwell. John retired from being a Salt Miner after 58 years. John was employed at the at the Retsof mine until it's closure and continued his career at American Rock Salt in Mt. Morris. His many years of experience and wisdom were relied upon by fellow miners. He was also an avid gardener and took pleasure in sharing the fruits of his gardening labors with friends and family.

John will be remembered for this generosity of spirit and mentorship of many a young miner.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 from 12 Noon - 3 PM at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo. Burial will be in Leicester Cemetery.
