I will always remember my sweet Aunt Mary Kay's smile, so beautifully captured in this photo. I remember it as a child when visiting with Uncle Charlie and Aunt Mary Kay at Christmas in Corning. When they would walk into my grandparent's house she was always excited to see us, her beaming smile in funny contrast to my Uncle Charlie's beard-covered grin. As years passed, and we weren't able to see each other in person on holidays, I could still hear her smile on phone conversations. She genuinely cared what my family was up to and how we were managing. I'll continue to feel her smile in the quilt she knitted for my wife when she was sick. We'll keep that quilt forever and will pass it on to our kids. We will let them know who made it and why she made it so they can feel Mary Kay's warmth and love and beautiful smile, too. Rest in peace, Aunt Mary Kay. You will be missed but not forgotten. Love, Greg, Erin, Luke, Sam, Ethan, Jack & Dylan

I work where Mary passed.
I had the pleasure over the past 6 weeks or so, speaking with her husband, Dr. Charles Nitsche, as we would randomly pass in the hallways of the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation on his way to visit his lovely wife. I was blessed, that I had the opportunity to speak, in person, to Mary about three weeks ago; some 36 years after her and Charles has invited our 12th grade social studies class to their home for a graduation picnic.
Although I was not ready at the time, Charles introduced me to psychology and philosophy, which are now very important components of my life.
"I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.” - Thoreau

Oh Mr. Nitsche - I am so sorry for your loss. Mary Kay was an incredible person. So sweet, gentle, quiet, loving, caring. She will be missed forever and always. I thank her for all her kind words and guidance she gave me over the years that her and I served on the Welcome Center Committee together.
