Obituary of Laurel "Scottie" VanBuskirk

Laurel "Scottie" VanBuskirk, age 78, of Groveland, died Monday, April 4, 2022 at the Wyoming County Community Health System in Warsaw, NY. She was predeceased by her son, Brian Eric VanBuskirk, mother, Laura (Frank) Murphy, father, Jack McKim, and brother, Robert McKim.

She is survived by her husband, Richard VanBuskirk, son, Roger (Peggy) VanBuskirk of Gibsonville, NC, siblings, Jackie (Janice) Murphy of Verona, PA, Lynn (Dave) Carey of Milton, PA, Bill (Mary) Murphy of Glen Cove, NY, Frank (Kathy) Murphy of Bay Shore, NY, Susan (Thomas) Lester of Spring Hill, FL, many nieces and nephews.

Laurel was born July 9, 1943 in Glen Cove, NY the daughter of Jack McKim and Laura Linn Murphy. She earned her Bachelor's Degree from SUNY Geneseo. Scottie helped train many dogs for guiding eyes for the blind. She was also an avid reader.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 8, 2022 from 4-7 PM at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo. Her Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 10 AM at the Geneseo United Methodist Church with Rev. Beth Malone officiating.
