Melvin E. Linsner, 86, of Lima Rd. in Geneseo, died Monday, September 3, 2012 at the Conesus Lake Nursing Home in Livonia, NY where he had been a resident for 3 years. He was predeceased by his wife, Jane in 2007, and his granddaughter Tammy Linsner in 1989. He is survived by his sons, Thomas (Betsy) Linsner of Piffard, Samuel (Margaret) Linsner of Livonia, grandchildren, Brian (Laura) Linsner of VA, Samantha (Steve) Veeder of Lyons, Abigail Linsner of Geneva, Daniel, Matthew and Sarah Linsner of Livonia, great grandchildren, Walter Linsner, Devin and Katie Veeder, Cyrus Linsner, sisters, Joanne Magee of Groveland, Peggy Stanley of Dansville, Eunice (Irving) Buchanan of Allentown, PA, brothers, Larry (Elaine) Linsner of Avon, Seymour (Phyllis) Linsner of Groveland, many nieces and nephews. He was born August 26, 1926 in Groveland, NY the son of Samuel and Selena Burns Linsner. Melvin owner and operated Linsner Farms on Lima Rd. in Geneseo. He was employed as a Field Inspector by Curtice Burns Foods in Leicester from 1975-1991. He served as Geneseo Town Supervisor from 1974-1982 and also served on the Geneseo Town Zoning Board of Appeals. He was a member of the Livingston County Traffic Safety Board and an Honorary Member of the Geneseo Fire Department. Melvin was a 17 year employee of Wal-Mart in Geneseo where he served as a greeter. Visitation will be held at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo on Wednesday from 4-7 PM where Funeral Services will be held Thursday, September 6, 2012 at 10 AM. Private Interment, Temple Hill Cemetery in Geneseo. Memorials may be made to the Geneseo Fire Department, P.O. Box 428, Geneseo, NY 14454.
