I don’t know about you but rainy days and Mondays always get me down… not sure how many Karen Caperter fans are out there but mom would have smiled at that. She always liked to find humor in any situation. Thank you mom for my “sense” of humor. Mom had a wonderful artistic side that ranged from coloring to making necklaces and bracelets, which she loved to gift to everyone. Of course, she always had to make sure if she gave you some jewelry you wore it well, cause she made it of course you should be wearing it. The most important thing to mom was family. She always wanted to do everything she could to help her family, make them laugh by being the quintessential Patty, pick them up when they were down, give the shirt off her back in some cases literally. What made my mom special was that to her, everyone she met was part of her family. Ithink this was because she lost her family at a very early age in a horrific car accident that saw her, by the age of 12, enduring 6 major surgeries that she never fully recovered from. She dealt with so much pain and loss in her life that anyone else would probably have turned bitter and angry. But not mom, she was always a fighter and never lost her optimism nor her faith. The last 4 years of my mom's health had a lot of ups and downs but through it all, she fought every day. She would always try to find the bright side to anything and anyone. She had a way to see the goodness in people that even they could never see, and more importantly, she could forgive so completely and without reservation no matter the transgression. She would say life is short you never know what the next moment will bring so isn't better to have love in your heart just in case that next moment is your last? Mom you shared with me so many gifts but the one I hold most dear is your unwavering empathy for all living things. It has shaped the person I am today and I will always be eternally grateful. I think I'll close with mom's catchphrase. "Whatcha see is whatcha get". and what I always will see in you, mom is a loving soul that lit up the world that was around you. I am proud to be your son and thankful for the time we had together on this blue marble. I will always love you Mommie.

You were such a light in my life. I will be forever grateful for everything you did and taught me. I would not be the person I am today without your love. I will always love you and miss you mom ❤️
