Obituary of Alfred L. Mothershed

Alfred L. Mothershed, age 58, of Leicester, died suddenly Tuesday, August 31, 2021. He was predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Anna Mothershed, siblings, Bonnie Neddo, Bob Mothershed and brother in law, Sam DePrimo.

He is survived by his wife, Lori Mothershed, children, Natasha Angus of Iowa, Nicholas (Caitlin) Mothershed of Avon, Alexis Mothershed of Virginia, step son, Nathan (Melissa) Cole of Syracuse, grandchildren, Nate, Alex, Aiden, Brayden, Cameron, Evelyn and Wesley. His siblings, Debra DePrimo of Elmira, John (Mary) Simons of FL, Joyce (Bill) Karl of Elmira, Mel (Lorraine) Mothershed of Elmira, in laws, Bill Neddo of Lake George, George (Sharon) Nichols of OH, Mike Nichols of Canandaigua, many nieces and nephews.

Al was born August 27, 1963 in Elmira, NY the son of Alfred J. and Anna Wead Mothershed. Al spent 40 years dedicated to the NYS Department of Corrections. During Al's 25 years as a Corrections Officer he served many roles including weapons instructor at various facilities and the training academy. Al held several positions within the NYSCOPBA Union including Western Regional Vice President. Al was an adamant supporter of all NYSCOPBA union members. Upon his retirement he continued his support of corrections with NYSCOPBA through June 2021. He also served as the Town Magistrate for the Town of Leicester. Al was a true selfless servant to anyone that may have been in need, his reach was felt far and wide. Al made himself accessible to any and all at any time of the day or night. Although he may be gone for now, his presence will be felt throughout the department and beyond for years to come.

His Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 11 AM at the Geneseo United Methodist Church, 4520 Genesee St. (Route 63) in Geneseo.
