Obituary of Francis E. Dunn

Francis Edward Dunn was born on December 14, 1929. After graduating from York Central High School, he enlisted in the United States Army, and proudly served our county in the Korean War. After returning home, he married Geraldine Mae Roffe. They raised two boys in Leicester, Thomas Howard Dunn and Howard Francis Dunn. Francis worked at the AKZO Nobel Salt Mine for 36 years, from 1957 - 1993, where he was the Production Superintendent and Transportation Manager. He also worked part-time fixing televisions at LaBarbara's Electric Shop. Francis loved fishing and was a founding member of the A-On-Do-Wa-Nuh Sportsman's Club. He was also a member and leader of the Democratic Party in Leicester, the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, the Carlton R. Boise American Legion Post 1007, and the Old-Timers Association of the Retsof Salt Mine, and he was elected Leicester Town Assessor. Family, friends and co-workers remember him as a hardworking, selfless and compassionate man. People in this area remember him fixing their t.v. and seeing him behind the t.v. with his mirror so he could see the screen, smiling that crooked smile and cracking jokes.
