Obituary of Ruth E. McAfee

Ruth E. McAfee, 91, of York, died Sunday, October 25, 2015 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY. Ruth had been a resident of the Avon Nursing Home for the last 3 years. She was predeceased by her husband Earl and infant daughter Rosemary. She is survived by her children, Jean (Thomas) Paxton of Rochester, Kathleen (Daniel) Brown of South Lima, Mary (David) Watson of Bergen, Bonnie (Raymond) Otto of Rochester, Robert (Claudia) McAfee of Piffard, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, her sister, Mildred Stone of Mt. Morris, sister in law Beverly Van Scooter of Websters Crossing, dear friend, Norma Geary of York, many nieces and nephews. Ruth was born February 18, 1924 in Springwater, NY the daughter of Scott and Bertha Howard Van Scooter. She was a longtime member and former Deacon at the York United Presbyterian Church where she also served as custodian for many years. Ruth was also a former member of the York Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at 11 AM at the York United Presbyterian Church, 2662 Main St.in York with Rev. Michelle Sumption officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in York. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to York United Presbyterian Church, 2662 Main St., Box 411, York, NY 14592.
