Obituary of Marjorie E. Tice

Marjorie E. Tice, 93, of Geneseo, NY, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 28, 2024.

Marjorie, known as Marji by her family and friends, was born on April 17, 1930 in Reeds Corners, NY to her parents, Harlan and Hazel Trescott. She attended Dansville High School, graduating in 1948. After graduation, she worked for Foster Wheeler in Dansville and then was a homemaker for many years.

She is predeceased by two husbands, Donald K. Rice, Sr. and Joseph Tice, her son, Donald K. Rice, Jr., brothers, William and Robert, two sisters, Helen and Ann.

She is survived by two daughters, Christine Rice Nidd and her husband Phil of Houston, TX, Cheryl Rice Bigenho and her husband Jerry of Quakertown, PA, and a son, Ronald Rice and his wife Danielle of Amarillo, TX, ten grandchildren, Jessica and Joshua Hitchcock, Rebekah Bigenho Kelly, Ben Bigenho, Bethany Bigenho Jorgensen, Keeley and Kierra Rice, Donald III, Alec and Hannah Rice, and twelve great grandchildren.

Marji lived in the same house in Groveland Corners for nearly 60 years. She loved gardening and playing the piano. She was self-taught and played only by ear. This brought her great joy and she enjoyed sharing her gift with others. She was involved in a number of small bands and played at nursing homes, the Groveland Federated Parish and other various venues in the surrounding area. She even had the privilege of recording a CD with a close musical friend.

The family will celebrate her life with a private graveside service at Lakeview Cemetery in Groveland.
