Obituary of Steven E. Chichester

Steven Elmer Chichester, 65, of Terre Haute Indiana, passed away on October 28, 2023.

Steven Chichester, known as "Chi" or "Chico" to everyone outside of his family and Steve within the family, was born on January 21, 1958 in Warsaw, New York. His parents were John and Cecilia Chichester. Steve graduated from York High School in 1975 in New York State.

Steve left New York in the early '80s and worked as a mason at Dow Chemical and various other employers. In 1982 Steve met Wendy and they were married on April, 25th 1984. Together they had two children Joshua and Jessica. Steve had one child prior to meeting Wendy, Christine.

Steve, Wendy, Josh and Jessica moved to Terre Haute, Indiana in 1994 where Josh and Jess both attended and graduated high school. Steve worked as maintenance manager of the local power plant until he retired in 2018. During that time, he achieved many professional goals including filing a patent with the United States Patent Office for a power plant reactor refractory design. He also worked as a consultant toward the end of his career where he was asked to visit and consult on construction projects in India, South Korea and China.

Upon retiring in 2018, Steve and Wendy fulfilled their lifetime dream of owning a motor coach. They sold their Riley house and took to life on the road. Since purchasing the RV, Steven and Wendy have travelled to all 48 of the contiguous United States. When they weren't exploring the US and Canada, they parked the RV in Lady Lake, Florida to enjoy the sunshine during the cold winter months in the north.

Steve or "Chi" touched everyone around him with his kindness and sense of humor. He would always put the needs of others before himself and offered help to anyone that needed it. He was quick with his wit and with a smile and shared his love of cooking with everyone that could handle his tendency to add an extra touch of spice to every meal. His larger-than-life presence and signature laugh will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him.

Steve was predeceased by his parents, John and Cecilia Chichester and his brothers, Allan Chichester and Wayne Chichester and brother-in-law, Jim Yeager. He is survived by his wife, Wendy Chichester, children, Christine Radesi, Joshua (Jenny) Chichester, Jessica (Nicholas) Dachota, stepchildren, Robert (Lora) Panzik and Brian (Amy) Panzik., beautiful grandchildren, Erik (Kenzie) Berg, Paige Berg, Ella Panzik, Alexis Panzik, Lillyan Panzik, Noah Panzik, Hunter Panzik and Eleanor Dachota; siblings, Barbara Yeager and Dennis (Margaret) Chichester, uncle Larry (Dixie) Chichester, aunt, Mildred Chichester, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
