Obituary of Mildred E. Johnston

Mildred E. Johnston born February 16, 1924 passed away peacefully at 99 years of age on August 8, 2023 at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mt. Morris, NY.

She was predeceased by her husband, Emerson H. Johnston, parents Edward and Lena Dietzel, sister, Velma Hodnett, brother, Gordon Dietzel, baby sisters, Alma and Doris Dietzel, son in law, Douglas Johnstone.

She is survived by her children, Lenellen Johnstone of Atlanta, GA, Alma (Stony) Bing of Grand Rapids, MI, Norma (Roger Fugle) Fuller of Conesus, James (Kristine) Johnston of Geneseo, 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, many nieces and nephews.

The family is extremely grateful for the love and excellent care she received from everyone at the Livingston County C. N. R. over the years she resided at the facility.

Mildred was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to read, do crosswords, puzzles and crocheted numerous afghans for everyone and anyone. Millie worked at Ruth Berdocks Nursing home in Geneseo as a nurse and retired from SUNY Geneseo after 20 years of service.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 from 4-7 PM at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo. A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at 10 AM in Temple Hill Cemetery in Geneseo with Lucille Kane officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Livingston County C. N. R. (Activity Fund) 11 Murray Hill Dr., Mt. Morris, NY 14510 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
