James "Jim" Martin Noonan Obituary

With hearts full of sorrow and gratitude, we remember and honor the remarkable life of James (Jim) Martin Noonan, of Vero Beach, Florida, who passed away surrounded by family on July 25th, 2026. Born August 21, 1940, in Manhattan, New York to Patrick Noonan and Anne Carr. James’ journey was a tapestry interwoven with love, service, generosity, and an unwavering work ethic and devotion to God, family, and friends.

Jim was the youngest of five: John, Bill, Gerald, and his beloved sister Patricia “Patsy.” Jim met and married the love of his life, Maria, upon graduation from New York University and ROTC. They loved “West Side Story,” maintaining that their meeting at the East Side House dance in Manhattan inspired the musical. Jim bravely served his country as Captain in the United States Air Force, stationed at multiple bases in Mississippi and New York before putting down roots in Geneseo, New York. They raised five children and remained in Geneseo 32 years before relocating to Fairport, New York and Vero Beach, Florida.

After an honorable discharge from the Air Force, he served in an administrative role for the Diocese of Rochester, New York, before transitioning to a successful, award-winning career in Financial Planning. Jim found great joy and success servicing clients across New York for over 40 years, retiring at age 78.

It is within the hearts of his family that Jim’s legacy shines brightest. For 63 beautiful years, he and Maria crafted a life brimming with laughter, faith, love, discipline, and Olympic-level sporting contests and work disguised as games for their children and neighbors.

Family and friends would describe Jim as a devoted, disciplined, dependable, loving and loyal leader—a man whose ready hands and open heart built not just a home and a business but bridges between people. He was a true steward of service to his family, friends and clients – all of whom became friends! Jim could read a room, run a meeting, rule the roost and create family gatherings and reunions chock full of action, connection, and laughter.

Jim is survived by Maria, his loving wife and partner. Their union was blessed with 5 children who carry their father’s spirit forward: Lisa (Thomas) McKay, Michelle (John) Mulcahy, Rafael “Ray” (Bertha) Noonan, Seanna Noonan and Matthew Noonan. James adored 10 grandchildren, Ryan, Connor, Patrick, Kelly, Jack, Casey, Jake, Vincent, Joey, and Steve. Great grandchildren are Jaelyn, Domonik, Micah, and most recently Cole.

We will all miss him dearly and smile knowingly as we carry his love in our hearts forever.
