Sarah Jane (Sally) Heitzman of Geneseo, NY passed peacefully on July 18, 2026. Sally was born in Meadville, PA on February 13, 1936. She was predeceased by her parents J. Barrett and Alice Elizabeth (Betty) Miller as well as her husband of 50 years Andrew James (Jim) Heitzman.

She is survived by her daughter Sarah Elizbeth (Betsy) Heitzman-Nolte, grandson Andrew James (AJ) Nolte, his wife Trisha (Tisa) Nolte and her great grandchildren Reagan Elizabeth and Jude Michael Nolte.

Sally graduated from Conneaut Valley high school in 1953, she went on to Penn State University where she received a BS in Home Economy in 1957. The summer after graduation her cousin introduced her to Jim and they were married in 1958. She and Jim moved to Pittsburgh where she worked at Duquesne Light.

Jim was hired in 1960 to teach at SUNY Geneseo. Shortly after, they made their home on Stuyvesant Manor, which was her home for over 65 years. For many years Sally was a homemaker and volunteer. She was a substitute teacher for Home Economics in Nunda and Geneseo. In 1977 Sally became a licensed real estate broker, by 1986 she moved on to doing primarily real estate appraisals. At the golden age of 84 Sally hung up her tape measure, put away her maps and retired from appraising.

In 1987 Dennis Dawson invited Sally to join Rotary. Four years later she became the first female president of the Geneseo Rotary. For over twenty Sally coordinated the food vendors for the Geneseo Rotary Summer Festival. Sally was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow, an honor for which she was extremely proud.

Over the years Sally was a costume designer for and a supporter of the Geneseo Community Players. As an avid bridge player, she belonged to several bridge groups in Geneseo. Sally was a member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Geneseo, where she served as a council member and a member of the altar guild.

Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main Street, Geneseo, New York. Funeral services will be held on Saturday July 25, 2026, at 11:00 AM at St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Geneseo.
