Dr. Nicholas Peter LaGattuta, age 97, of Cleveland, OH formerly of Geneseo, died Sunday, June 7, 2026 at Fairview Hospital in Cleveland, OH. He was predeceased by his wife, Marianne Bartels LaGattuta.

He is survived by his children, Barbara (Rod) Schirmer of Leicester, Margaret (Todd) Vandervort of Albany, Betsy (John) Maio of Albany, John (Tami) LaGattuta of Cleveland, OH, 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Dr. LaGattuta was born May 15, 1929 in Buffalo, NY the son of Andrew and Frances LaGattuta. He earned his Bachelor's Degree and his Masters Degree Magna Cum Laude both in Education from Buffalo State University where he also earned his Doctorial in Education. Dr. LaGattuta was a teacher at the North Tonawanda Public Schools from 1952-1960 where he served as an Administrator. He became the Dean of Facility of Education, Director of Continuing Education and Director of International Education at SUNY Geneseo.

Dr. LaGattuta's Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at 10 AM at St. Mary's Church, 4 Avon Rd. in Geneseo with Father Daniel White officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Geneseo.
