Robert J. McCart Obituary

Robert J. McCart, age 98 of Cuylerville, died peacefully on Saturday, April 25th, 2026 at Unity Hospital in Rochester, New York.


He was predeceased by his first wife, Eva McCart, brothers, Joseph, John, George and sisters, Margaret Quait, Elizabeth NiCastro, Jennie Miner and Sarah Palma.


He is survived by his wife Rosemary, his children Gary (Jennifer Hahn) McCart and Linda Deuel, both of North Carolina, and Rosemary's children Mary (Keith) Harrison, Deena Regoni Brasser, Andrea Regoni Gottfried, Kathleen (Michael) Doyle and Beth Regoni. He is also survived by grandchildren Adam (Leana) Deuel, Ryan (Naoko) Deuel, Michelle (Ricky) Proctor, Samantha (John) Belk, Danielle Eva Regoni, Adam Michael Regoni, Chelesa Fox Regoni, Robert Gottfried, Emily Gottfried, Steven Gottfried and Niki (William) Hauser. Great grandchildren include Ren Deuel, Jacob Anthony Gay, Madeline Eva Gay, Brandon Doyle and Leah Hauser along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.


Robert was born March 1, 1928 in Warsaw, New York, the son of Joseph and Jennie (Mark) McCart. He was a US Army Veteran serving from 1946 to 1947. Robert worked 42 years for AKZO Salt Mine in Retsof, and after retirement he worked on local farms until his early 80's. He was a member of the NY Steam Engine Association. As an avid collector, he accumulated a large assortment of antique farm and garden equipment.


The family would like to thank the Unity Hospital staff for their excellent care.


Calling hours will be held on Thursday April 30th from 4-7 pm at the Rector Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at the Leicester Cemetery on Friday May 1st at 11am. Memorials may be made to the Cuylerville Ambulance or Fire Department, 2943 Canandaigua St., Leicester, NY 14481.
