Marlene A. Hamilton Obituary
Wonderful mother, wife, and friend, Marlene Arnold Hamilton passed away on March 14th, 2026 at the age of 88.
Marlene was born September 20, 1937, the oldest of three daughters, to Robert and Kay Arnold of Warsaw, NY. Smart as a whip, Marlene excelled in sports and academics, graduating from high school early to marry the love of her life, Donald Hamilton, on August 6th, 1955. Together, they raised three daughters of their own in Geneseo. Family was everything to Marlene. As Marlene quoted George Eliot in her high school yearbook – "Affection is the broadest basis of a good life".
Marlene was active volunteer in her community and church. She loved to entertain, bowl, play bridge, golf, cook, and craft. She always wanted to see the latest movie, visit the newest restaurant, try the latest recipe, and generally "be in the know" and not miss anything new or fun. Most of all, Marlene loved to laugh. Her sense of humor was unmatched. She leaves us with countless fond memories of fun and laughter.
An avid athlete and sports fan from a young age, Marlene was passionate about almost every sport, her golf game, Syracuse basketball, and most of all, her beloved Buffalo Bills. Her proudest personal accomplishment was her "hole-in- one" in 2003 at the age of 66. Right up until the end, Marlene enjoyed her football and March madness pools, picking her teams by the cutest coach or nicest young quarterback.
Marlene will be deeply missed by her three daughters; Lori (Bruce) Dantz; Kimberly (John) Torpie, and Kristen Deisering. Marlene was the loving grandmother of Kellen (Chrissy) Dantz; Taylor (Mark) DeCory, Elizabeth & Erin Shell, Cameron and Mara Deisering; great grandmother to Elliott, Ezekyel, Elsie, Justin, and Jack. Also surviving Marlene are her sister, Kathleen (Gary) Webster, sister-in-law, Evelyn Hamilton, and many, many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, March 18th at 2PM at Central Presbyterian Church, Center St. Geneseo, NY. A reception will follow at the Valley Oak Event Center, 4242 Lakeville Road, Geneseo, NY from 4 - 6 PM. To represent the joy with which Marlene lived her life, bright and colorful attire is appreciated.
We wish to thank Morgan Estates Senior Living and the Livingston County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for providing such compassionate care to our mom. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marlene's memory can be made to the Livingston County Hospice or charity of your choice in her name.
