Mary B. Schryver, age 94, of Geneseo, died Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville, NY. She was predeceased by her husband, George Schryver, parents, Jack and Mae Brophy, brothers, John and Edmond Brophy.

She is survived by her children, Elizabeth (Bob) Schryver of Arkport, John (Victoria) Schryver of Joshua Tree, CA, Robert (Felecia) Schryver of Wilmington, NC, William (Sarah) Schryver of Portland, OR, grandchildren, Samuel and Amorelle Schryver, numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary was born May 29, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY the daughter of John and Mary Josephine Reilly Brophy Jr. She graduated from St. Agnes High School in Lynbrook in 1949 and earned her RN in 1952 from St. Vincent's Hospital School of Nursing. Mery went on to obtain her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from Stony Brook University in 1975.

She worked as a Public Health Nurse with the Suffolk County Health Department until her retirement in 1990. While with the Health Department she held various positions including Administrator of the Brentwood and Amityville field offices, hospital Coordinator at the Good Samaritan Hospital, Director of the Handicapped Children's Program among many other positions.

She loved to sing and was a member of the St. Patrick's Church choir in Smithtown on Long Island. She also served as St. Partick's Diocesan Chair and was a member of the Suffolk County choir which enabled her to travel and form lasting friendships.

She also donated time to the Guide Dog Foundation in Smithtown, and was a "Puppy walker" helping to train Tuna and Otto. Guide Dog became a pet project and has always held a soft spot in her heart.

She was a great lover of ice cream as members of her family can attest to.

Much loved by friends and neighbors and always "on call" for those she knew who needed a little nursing care.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 from 5-7 PM at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo. Her Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at 11 AM at St. Mary's Church, 4 Avon Rd. in Geneseo with Father Daniel White officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Geneseo.
