Ryan M. Mapes, age 35, of Caledonia, died after a courageous battle on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY. He was predeceased by his mother, Sheryl Lynn Mapes.

He is survived by his father, John, brother, Sean Mapes of Caledonia, aunts, Linda (Mike) Schultheis of York, Karen Whitney of Henrietta, cousins, Allison and Mike Schultheis.

Ryan was born October 17, 1990 in Rochester, NY the son of John D. and Sheryl Lynn Whitney Mapes. He attended Broome Community College, SUNY Binghamton, SUNY Albany and Fisher College where he started on their baseball teams. Ryan went on to play semi-pro baseball in the Dominican Republic. After his baseball career, Ryan became a supervisor for UPS based in Rochester.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025 from 10AM-12 Noon at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo where Funeral Services will follow at 12 Noon with Deacon Patrick Shanley officiating. Burial will be in Temple Hill Cemetery in Geneseo.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ryan's family.
