Peter G. Scondras Obituary

Peter Scondras, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away recently at the age of 73. He was a man whose life was defined by generosity, humor, craftsmanship, and a deep pride in his Greek heritage.

Born to George and Elvira (Varlan) Scondras, Pete carried forward his family's strong spirit and love of life. He grew up alongside his older brother John, his younger brother Jim, and his sister Mary Ann, who preceded him in death.

A master electrician by trade, Pete specialized in commercial work, where his precision and problem-solving earned him the respect of colleagues and contractors alike. Though he spent his career wiring large buildings and complex systems, he was just as likely to help a neighbor with a stubborn circuit or flickering light, never accepting more than a cup of coffee as payment. With steady hands, a sharp mind, and a practical heart, Pete approached every job with the care and pride of a true craftsman.

At home, Pete loved tending his garden and riding the tractor while taking care of the farm. He spent happy hours at his workbench, crafting yard art by creatively welding broken garden implements into fanciful animals. His workbench was rivaled only by his kitchen counter. Pete's KitchenAid mixer was his trusted companion in creating loaves of bread that filled the house with warmth and laughter—often accompanied by one of his famously terrible dad jokes. He found joy in the simple pleasures.

Pete is survived by his loving wife, Sara, his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and all who were lucky enough to know him.

Those who loved Pete will remember his boundless generosity and his ability to make anyone feel at home. In honoring his life, we celebrate a man who found meaning in his work, joy in his family, and humor in every moment. His light—and his laughter—will be deeply missed.

While there will be no calling hours or funeral, a celebration of Pete's life will be held during the summer at the convenience of his family.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your favorite charity in Pete's name.
