Sheryl Lynn Mapes, age 64, of Alpine Lane in Caledonia, died Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY. She was predeceased by her parents, Lawrence and Donna Whitney.

She is survived by her husband, John Mapes, 2 sons, Sean and Ryan Mapes both of Caledonia, twin sister, Karen Whitney of West Henrietta, sister, Linda Whitney of York, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Sheryl was born July 14, 1961 in Rochester, NY the daughter of Lawrence and Donna Allison Whitney. She was retired from Hurlbut Nursing Home in Rochester after more than 30 years of caring for the elderly. Sheryl collected angels as a hobby and had accumulated over 100 in various sizes over the years. She loved arts and crafts. She especially loved to knit sweaters with an affinity for baby sweaters.

No prior calling hours. Graveside Services will be held 1:00 pm on Friday, July 25, 2025 at Temple Hill Cemetery in Geneseo with Deacon Pat Shanley officiating.
