



Obituary of John "Ed" Rauber
John "Ed" Rauber, age 82, of Cuylerville, passed away surrounded by his family Friday, May 2, 2025 at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville, NY. He was predeceased by his wife, Maris Cuozzo Rauber in February and parents, Edward Rauber and Leona (Neil) Harris.
He is survived by his son, John (Kate) Rauber of Cuylerville, grandchildren, Alexander and Allyson, brother-in-law, Donald Cuozzo, many nieces, nephews and friends.
Ed was born January 26, 1943 in Rochester, NY the son of Edward Albert Rauber and Leona Hotter Rauber. Ed was a Graduate of York Central School and then went to work. He was employed as a welder by Local 832 based out of Rochester, NY. Ed worked all over western New York through Local 832 as well as the Salt Mine and G & W Railroad, both in Retsof. He was a Senior member of the Cuylerville Fire Department, A-On-Do-Wa-Nuh Sportsman's Club and owned AJR Welding for 19 years. He was always ready for a good time, a long story, or a cold drink. He loved his Union days, and would talk anyone's ear off with one of his death-defying stories. Ed was a devoted grandpa, a caring father and husband and was loved by all. He will be missed.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, May 5, 2025 from 4-7 PM at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo where Funeral Services will take place on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at 10 AM with Father Daniel White officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Geneseo. A reception will be held at the A-On-Do-Wa-Nuh Sportsman's club following the burial and all are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cuylerville Fire Department, 2943 Canandaigua St., Leicester, NY 14481.
