Obituary of Richard W. Strathearn

Richard "Dick" William Strathearn, 75, passed away on February 27, 2025, at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mt. Morris, NY. Born in Rochester, NY, Dick spent much of his life in Cuylerville and Leicester, NY, where he built a life filled with family, friendships and service to his community.

Dick had a varied career, working for the State of New York before finding his true passion as a towing operator for Jimmy's Sales and Service in Leicester. He was a dedicated and hardworking man who made an impact on everyone he met.

A devoted family man, Dick was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy Ann Strathearn, who passed in August 2024. He is survived by his son, Gary (Bonnie) Strathearn of Cuylerville and stepchildren Tom (Becky) Cook of Kentucky, Tim Cook of Virginia, and Scott (Samantha) Cornwell of North Carolina. He was a loving grandfather to Aiden, Owen, Emily, Chanse, Jessica, Vincent and their families.

Dick is also survived by his brother, Ken (Sue) Strathearn of Castile, his sister, Donna Ward of Missouri, whose husband, John Ward, predeceased her. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Jim Strathearn, but leaves behind Jim's wife, Linda. He was the son of the late, Ruth Green and Les Green.

A lifelong member of the Cuylerville Fire Department, Dick served as both Fire Chief and President, dedicating countless hours to his community in numerous roles. His love for the fire service, his community, and his friends will be fondly remembered.

Beyond his service, Dick found joy in hunting, tending to the gardens he lovingly built and maintained for his wife, and caring for the many pets that were part of his family. His loyal dachshund, Zeke, his cats Randy and Ralphie, and his barn cats were always by his side.

He leaves behind cherished friends, including Ken Mock & Jill Farruggia Foote, Frank and Maryanne Radesi, and Ken and Claudia Forrester, who will miss his friendship and presence deeply.

No prior calling hours. Memorial Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dick's honor to the Cuylerville Fire Department, PO Box 247, Leicester, NY 14481. The family would also like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff at Livingston County C. N. R and the Livingston County Hospice Team for the exceptional care and kindness they provided during his time there.
