Maris Stella Rauber, age 84 of Cuylerville, passed away surrounded by her loving son and husband Friday, February 14th, 2025 at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville, NY. She was predeceased by her parents, Daniel and Josephine Cuozzo, brothers, baby Frederick, Micheal and Robert, sister, Sylvia (Carmen) Gallo Sr. and sister-in-law, Nancy Cuozzo.
She is survived by her husband, John "Ed" Rauber, son, John (Kate) Rauber, grandchildren, Alexander and Allyson, brother, Donald Cuozzo and many special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Maris was born July 13, 1940 in Warsaw, NY the daughter of Daniel and Josephine Fernando Cuozzo. She was a graduate of York Central School class of 1958. Maris first worked as an operator for the telephone company in Geneseo. She was in the Mt. Morris Bowling league for many years. She was a mainstay at York Central School as a lunch lady in the Elementary cafeteria. She was a legend during the 4 years the Buffalo Bills were in the Super Bowl, she played the "shout song" and had all the kids excited. Maris retired after 35 years of service for her favorite job of all, Grandma. It was her blessing to watch her grandchildren everyday and for them to grow up. As most know, Maris was one of the biggest Bills fans, and watched every game, and had all the clothing to match. Then, when the NY Yankees came on, she was watching every game also. Maris was a very special women and everyone who met her, loved her.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, February 17, 2025 from 4-7 PM at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo where Funeral Services will take place on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at 10 AM with Father Daniel White officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Geneseo.
