Jerry W. Adamson, age 81, of Groveland, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 16, 2020 at his residence. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Shaffer Adamson, children, Shawn (Janeen Inzana and her daughters, Nikki and Sareena) Adamson of Batavia, Amy (Jeff) Marnon of Groveland, Tracy (Jeff) Guldenschuh of Groveland, grandchildren, Tiffany (Nathan) Davenport, Samantha (Jake Giglio) Marnon, Kelsey (Charles Jordan) Marnon, Christopher and Conner Guldenschuh, great grandson, Amory Davenport, sisters in law, Juliet (Bud) Rousey of FL, Mary-Lou (Hank) VanVorst of Charlotte, dear friend, Rev. Leon (Margie) VanWie, nieces, nephews and many cousins. Jerry was born May 14, 1938 in Groveland, NY the son of Henry and Dorothy Quait Adamson. He served 6 years in the National Guard. Jerry earned his Associates Degree from Alfred State in Dairy Management. His love of firefighting included: being a Firefighter for the City of Rochester for 28 years, retiring as captain in 1997, as a Fireman for the Groveland Volunteer Fire Department for 58 years serving in many offices including Chief, as a New York State Fire Instructor for Livingston County for 20 years, and teaching Fire Safety in several of the local school districts. Recently he donated a parcel of land for Groveland Hill's new fire house, yet to be built. He was a founding member of the Livingston County Search Coordination Team. He was awarded the Senior Citizen of the year award for Groveland in 2016. Jerry was a longtime member of the Groveland Federated Parish where he served as an elder and trustee. Due to COVID-19 there will be no prior calling hours. A Celebration of Jerry's Life will be held at the Groveland Federated Parish at a time to be announced.
