Obituary of Ernest J. Jarvis

Ernest James Jarvis, age 67, passed away in his sleep on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mt. Morris. He was predeceased by his father, Thomas Jarvis, brothers, Thomas and David Jarvis, step-father, David Richardson, nephews, Deryck Sibley and Jeremy Tuso. He is survived by his mother, Barbara Richardson of Retsof, children, Jason (Christina) Jarvis of Geneseo, Nathan Jarvis of Wellesley Island, Heather Jarvis-Braaten of Geneseo and their mother, Linda Jarvis of Geneseo, 6 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Ernie was born February 14, 1950 in Oneonta, NY to Barbara Post Jarvis and Thomas Jarvis. The family moved to Wellesley Island for several years, Depauville, NY and then settled in Geneseo. Ernie grew up on Court Street in Geneseo with his brothers David and Tommy. In 1967 Ernest enlisted in the US Marine Corps. He trained as an infantry soldier and engineer. Ernie served in combat and was on active duty until 1970 and was honorably discharged in 1972. He loved spending time with family and friends and enjoyed much of his retirement at his grandparents' cottage on Wellesley Island. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017 from 3-5 PM at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo. A private Memorial Service will be held in Wellesley Island. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Wellesley Island. Memorials may be made to the V.F.W. Post # 5005, P.O. Box 221, Geneseo, NY 14454.
