Ruth Quait Magee, 90, of Groveland, passed away Thursday, January 22, 2009 at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mt. Morris. Ruth, daughter of Eleanor Servis and Willam Quait was born July 24th, 1918. She lived in the Groveland area her entire life. Ruth married Don Magee, who predeceased her, in April of 1941. Ruth graduated from Geneseo College with her teaching degree and began her life long love of teaching in 1938 at a one room school house in Ossian. She next taught at the Groveland School from 1943-1947 and again from 1955 until the school closed in 1969. She retired from teaching at the Wayland School in 1980. Ruth's commitment to education could be seen by the positive influence she had on her students whom she nurtured and cherished. Ruth was a member of the Sparta First Presbyterian Church where she served the Lord in many capacities and truly enjoyed time spent with her church family. Her other interests included reading, baking cookies, playing cards, and bingo. Her greatest enjoyment came in spending time with her family. She was a devoted wife and mother.
