Irene Annabelle Gardner, 89, of East Groveland Rd., passed away peacefully Saturday, January 14, 2012 at her residence in Groveland surrounded by family.

She is survived by her daughters, Ann (James) Couture of Nunda, Linda Jarvis of Groveland, Sharon Tuso of Mt. Morris, Robin Gardner of Leicester, son, Scott (Allison) Gardner of Dalton, 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, brother, Edward (Joyce) Litteer of SC, and sister, Priscilla (Donald) Morton of SC, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Winfield "Beezy" Gardner, her daughter Susan Gardner, and her grandson Jeremy Tuso.

She was born November 10, 1922 in Groveland, NY the daughter of Percy Gray and Marion Downer Buss Litteer. Irene served in the US Navy during World War II. She was a graduate of Geneseo State Teachers College and taught in the Dansville School District. Irene was a member of the Groveland Federated Parish. She enjoyed traveling, reading, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, January 20, 2012 at 11 AM at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo with Rev. David Hotchkiss officiating. Burial will be in South Sparta Cemetery in Dansville.
