Rector-Hicks Funeral Home was founded in 1886 as W.S. Rector and Sons. The funeral home emerged as a branch of the furniture store operated by the Rector Family. The funeral home co-existed in the same building at 111 Main Street until 1959 when they closed the furniture store to make room for the increasing demand of the funeral home. Upon the death of W.S. Rector, his sons Carroll and Donald operated the funeral home until 1965 as Rector Funeral Chapel. It was then sold to Weeks Funeral Home of Warsaw, New York in 1966. Weeks then sold the business in 1968 to Frank Hicks, who changed the name to Rector-Hicks Funeral Home. He sold the business in 1988 to his son F. Scott Hicks. The funeral home is independently owned and operated by the Hicks Family, and has been since 1968. Rector-Hicks Funeral Home is a proud member of the National Funeral Directors Association, New York State Funeral Directors Association, Rochester/Genesee Valley Funeral Directors Association, and the Livingston County Funeral Directors Association. We are also members of the Livingston County Chamber of Commerce and members of SUNY Geneseo Corporate and Business Partners.
